CREME BRULEE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST

After getting stuffed

Almost done!

Bubbly caramel
I mean, there’s no arguing that crème brûlée is a sophisticated dessert. You can challenge me on this one when you find me a drive-thru that serves it (side note: if you do find one, you BETTER tell me, because that is a brilliant idea). Trance matches the refined taste you get from eating caramelized, burnt refined sugar - I think that when it comes to dance music, trance is easily the most sophisticated genre. It’s probably because I have yet to hear anything sounding remotely close to Dash Berlin in a K-mart ad or have yet to hear Flo Rida rap over some Above & Beyond (I will lose all faith in music if this day ever comes).

FrenchToast
So that’s it for my first post!!!! Hope you enjoyed J

Materials:
1 Loaf of bread (unsliced) (I got mine from Panera Bread)
6-8 Fresh Strawberries, diced small
8 oz. Cream Cheese (room temp)
2 cups Sugar
Butter
2 large eggs
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Methods:
1.     Slice bread into 2 inch thick slices.
2.     Using a small knife, cut slits into the bread deep enough to stuff but not all the way through.
3.     In a bowl, mix together strawberries and cream cheese. Put mixture into a large plastic bag. Cut a small hole at the bottom corner of the bag.
4.     Pipe strawberry mixture into each slice of bread.
5.     In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk and cinnamon.
6.     Dip stuffed bread into the egg/milk mixture.
7.     Using about 1 tablespoon butter per slice, cook stuffed bread on each side until a nice, golden brown color.
8.     In a small saucepan, heat sugar slowly on medium heat. Stir with a fork. Continue heating until a caramel color and liquid consistency is achieved.
9.     As soon as caramel topping is finished, drizzle it onto the French toast as it will harden almost immediately.

Extra Bits:
-The French toast tastes amazing even without the crème brulee topping, just top with syrup instead.
-To make the decorations pictured, I drizzled the caramelized sugar onto a rolling pin and waited for it to harden before breaking it into pieces.
